Episode 118: My Little Podcast: Fandom Is Tragic

with Boots Raingear, Jimmyfranks, Isfahan, bumpgrrl, and Lemon.

Edited.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic premiered in 2010, almost exactly a year after The F Plus' first episode. But despite this, we've intentionally avoided the topic of Bronies throughout the podcast simply because it seemed too simple and straightforward to spend an hour going "I find cartoon horses sexy". Of course, we should have realized that is the entry point and it gets more insane from there. This week, nuzzling!

Oh shit, MDE? Wow, this one was subtle!
Of course, now that the joke version exists, the real deal's bound to be made at some point...
Hold on, aren't Kickstarter gonna give them hell for this, though?

It actually isn't, thankfully. Some YouTube goofballs called Million Dollar Extreme set it up as an ostensible prank (no word yet on what the endgame would have been/will be), but they screwed up and blew their cover. They're still trying to salvage it, but the bronies aren't giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Dear lord, they made a My Little Dashie "movie".

It's here if you wish to subject yourself to it. I wasn't masochistic enough to get past the title card, much less the remaining 27 minutes.

A lot of fanfics could be Pale Fire if they were written by someone as smart as Nabokov.

so in my little dashie, is she fucking the guy or not?

There's no part in My Little Dashie where the narrator has sex with a cartoon horse. Instead, it's a very, very long story about a man adopting a cartoon horse and reconciling the fact that the cartoon horse doesn't exist in real life.
Quoting My Little Dashie:

Today has to have been the worst time of my life, even more than when my parents died. Due to events I could not prepare for, Dashie found out the truth before I could tell her myself. She knows what she is, a made up cartoon character from a kids television show. She is mad, no, upset beyond all thought.

Having My Little Dashie read aloud has only cemented my belief that it is super goddamn creepy. Bronies have gotten super mad at me for saying it's creepy as hell.

Yeah, self policing the hugbox that is the brony fanbase is like herding cats but the stupid that erupts is enormously entertaining.

Practicing her teleportation skills, duh.

Either that, or practicing making you have an experience of lost time so that you just think she teleported.

Wow you managed to make Happy Feet an even more dissapointing movie than it already was.

Calzone transformation sounds like transforming into food, which I'm sure is a fetish somewhere on the internet.

I've actually been curious ever since Zeis (from episode 77) first linked the podcast.
Has the Fplus ever heard of The Furcast, or ever considered doing a collaboration with them at any point?

Hey, thanks for namedropping me, dude. I totally appreciate being associated with some furry podcast I have never listened to or even heard of.

Second, the character that bump reads that sounds like the Queen of England doing an impression of Captain Kirk, is that how that character actually talks in the show? Because I find it really amusing that this show may have created a distaff Captain Kirk that's a talking magic horse.

The voice actor who does Princess Celestia is Canadian, and it seems to me like she's trying to do Julie Andrews.

I have a question and a comment.

First, and I will word this very precisely, Bumbgrrl saying "ah albino allicorn spell" would make as good a basis for a dub-step remix as anything ever has.

Let me give a better and more official answer to this question.

I just downloaded episode 147 of the Furcast and skipped to about a third of the way in and listened for a bit, and so I can say I don't see how a collaboration between The F Plus and Furcast would make sense in any way. It sounds like a podcast with a group of furry guys shooting the shit and talking about fur-related matters, which isn't what we do. I can see how this podcast would have an audience, I can see where people would like it. But it doesn't really mesh with the content that we produce and I don't believe that I personally would want to appear on their podcast, nor a situation where I would want to invite them to be on ours.

Great episode as usual, guys.

I honestly don't think I'll ever understand the internet's infatuation with MLP. I watched like 2 episodes once and it just came off as generic, mediocre little girls cartoon type crap. There really wasn't anything special that could make me understand why so many adults are into it.

As for the bronies, I don't really know. All the brony thing really is, to me at least, is just a circlejerk of obnoxious nerds with massively unwarranted senses of self-importance who are really into a children's cartoon meant for 4-10 year old girls.

I don't get it. I just don't.

Also the My Little Dashie thing made me cringe.
