Episode 115: Why Can't Social Studies Be More Like Call Of Duty?

with Isfahan, Adam Bozarth, Boots Raingear, and Lemon.

Edited by Adam Bozarth

Content for this episode was provided by Montrith.

One of the reasons why so many movies and televisions shows are set in high school is because, to varying degrees, the high school experience leaves an indelible mark on all of us. Our first experiences with sexual rejection, social politicking, and your own purpose in a greater society - these are difficult concepts which frustrated many of us when we were teenagers. And then, as we learned from school-survival.net, these can also be concepts some of us never grasped, and never could manage to get over. This week, The F Plus wants you to lose weight for school pictures.

Yes, it's being worked on. There's a repo set up on github for it. Click here for the project thread on ballp.it (no reg necessary). And I am in need of some help, so if you can program and you want to collaborate, please get a hold of Lemon in one way or another.

it's like staring straight into the maw of madness. I did not think it was possible for me to want this episode more.

Man, My Little Nationalist Pony is sooo passé! Get with the internet times!
Maybe those photoshops of ponies in ww2 history photos* will make students interested in history!
* I think most were done as a parody of the original one though.

Holy shit, holy shit. I was going to say "this is OBVIOUSLY a fascist, look at the goddamn name, pulling a quote should be easy enough" and it's like staring straight into the maw of madness. I did not think it was possible for me to want this episode more.

Honestly, I was at first ambivalent about this episode, since teenagers can, and often do, have legitimate mental issues they can't really deal with on their own and as a result have a hard time going on with their school life.

On the other hand, most of the kids in this episode were not these kids, and they all sounded like they were actually fine, and had everything they needed to live their life, and were just complaining because they were teenagers. Even though, the dude with the obsessively detailed post about chores seemed like an okay person, learning that life isn't easy and he should stop complaining and go back to school.

Do these kids realize they can just drop out and get a GED? Or maybe they don't actually want to take control of their lives outside the school system and just like complaining a lot because everyone is stupid but them.

I want to laugh at folk-punk, but I fear that would make me a bit of a hypocrite since the reason I still haven't paid the forum fee is I spent all my extra money on tickets to see Finntroll. Ha ha ha. Ha. :(

There was a guy at my high school (some years ahead of me) who actually gave one of those "I hated this school and you're all sheeple" graduation speeches. Parents were pissed off and there were angry letters to the editor in the local newspaper.

Then two weeks passed and everyone forgot about it because someone caught a really big trout or something. Now that guy is really fat and works as a truck mechanic.

There may or may not be a moral to this story.
The moral is that anyone who uses the word sheeple belongs on CB trucker radio.

Fun fact: in Sam Peckinpah's Convoy the word "sheeple" is used 65 times.

Not to say that this episode isn't fantastic, because I'm only twenty minutes in and it's fucking great.

Back in '98 the Pokeymenz and the Final Fantasy-eses were the way of life. Now with this new Call of Doody crap the world is becoming full of ruffians and criminals. Sign of the apocylypse, I tell ya!

I was so happy when I saw there was a new episode and then immediately terrified when I saw what it was about. I spent a lot of time on that site in my youth and it's so terrible to be reminded of it.
