Episode 103: Adam Carolla Would Look Better In A Burqa

I guess if you think about it for a little while, you could probably come up with a couple good things that women have provided for the world. Apparently the square bottom paper grocery bag was invented by a woman, also COBOL, and say what you will about the execution, but Toxic is a pretty catchy song. Still though, for the writers of sites like the-spearhead.com, avoiceformen.com and Men Going Their Own Way, that simply isn't enough. These are some dudes that have some issues with women, and like a lot of things, that's the fault of women. This week, The F Plus feels emboldened by the smell of urinal cakes.

Is there a specific reason why the writing in the Voice For Men about page is so similar in style to what "Sovereign Citizens Movement" people and Tea Partiers write?

There is a pretty big overlap between MRAs and crazy far-right/liber tarian nutjobs.

Thanks 4TheLoveOPinkBe rries, I will definitely check out the lectures, it does sound like they could be interesting.
And I am elated to know of the LHC! With any luck this will spearhead a new era of Advanced Toilet Studies, and perhaps the day my cat can have her litter box to herself will not be too far!

@Clockderp
Sorry, but I dont really frequent Something Awful.
To be quite frank, for its apparent "infamy", none of what Ive seen of it so far in my psychology curriculae (EU standardized) really warrants it (nor what Ive come upon in my meanderings over the internet). And I am very skeptical that the subfield has managed to escape all forms of standarization and peer-review the fields it draws from are subject to.
Perhaps youve come across some bad authors, but debatable and differing views are present in all academic fields, and they should not become the reason to disparage or reject the real science behind them.

I am very honestly at loss at how or where this kind of hate and dismissal has stemmed from, it seems misguided to me.

The :biotruths: emote on SA exists for a reason. That reason has been mentioned in the comment thread. It's really not that mysterious that people would have a negative reaction to a field infamous for misogyny and racism.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I find people who try to study one thing from multiple different angles and disciplines very impressive and interesting!
( I would recommend listening to Robert Sapolsky's Behavioral Biology Lecture on Stanford University's Youtube channel. Most of the science stuff he talks about does goes over my head, sadly. )

I don't think either FemiSKAzi or I implied otherwise. Sorry If it came off that way!
BTW, I heard the Loo Handling Contraption (LHC) will be put to the test soon. It will collide poo- uh particles very fast through its tunnels to find out if the mysterious and complex "toilet" really exists!

Wait, why would anyone want to be fair to MRAs?

I was referring more to the fairness of making fun of crazies wherever they may dwell :)
But, I have little doubt there must be some decent MRA's, such as the man who ran the only men's safe house in Canada, in his own house and on his own money, until he commited suicide after being evicted from it not too long ago.

@FemiSKAzi Content @ForTheLoveOfNazis
Seriously?
Evolutionary psychology is an interdisciplina ry subfield of psychology with ramifications into biology and other forms of study of human behavior (sociology, anthropology, psychiatry).
Of course there are things which are debatable, often very much so, none of these fields can be boiled down to simple equations and are open to interpretation.

I am very honestly at loss at how or where this kind of hate and dismissal has stemmed from, it seems misguided to me.

It is mostly pseudo-scientific bullshit, though. In theory it's an interesting take on psychology that takes evolutionary biology into account when studying how human minds work, but in practice it's mostly a bunch of Just So stories from white dudes who keep coming dangerously close to just flat-out saying that caveman dicks were totally better than modern beta dicks.

if you think ""feminazis"" are angry at Evolutionary Psychology you should listen to Psychologists and Evolutionary Biologists!
What some of the criticism seems to come down to is that when evolutionary psychologists find, say, a skeleton buried with weapons, they will assume it is warrior if male, a loyal wife buried with her husbands weapons if female. The reasoning apparently being "that's how most societies we study are". The issue with that would be the "we" in "we study". It's very likely that Evolutionary Psychologist bring their society's assumptions of prehistoric societies into their work. Most scientific fields are aware of these kinds of things, and have gone through some lengths to compensate for it. Evolutionary Psychology... hasn't gone to as great a length as other fields.Or I could be completely misunderstandin g the argument or forgetting something important!

After just listening to this episode, I have to say that I did laugh quite a lot despite my initial weariness of it.

I've known about MRA's before and found it kind of sad. They obscure the real and legitimate issues, as others have noted, when they bundle them up with personal victimization and have ill-adjusted and angry people brandish them.
But as we this podcast has seen over and over, frustrated people will jump on any chance to victimize themselves to avoid responsability, and within "movements" the craziest will often seem to have the loudest voices.

In all fairness, you should probably read some crazy feminazi content in some future episode ("Valerie Solanas was a genius and very sane", "Evolutionary psychology is a lie to opress women", "Rape cannot happen to men", etc) of which Im sure you must've received something.

Cheers!

Who is Adam Carolla??

That's a very good question. One source suggests "The Adam Carolla" was once some subspecies of comicus erectus, that reached its peak some time in the late 1990s and early 2000s before struggling against the vicious currents of relevance and public interest.

If you have to pay money to post in the ballp.it, would that make you a whore, not a slut?

ForTheLove asks the hard-hitting questions, live, from the Toilet Bowl.

Also, Adam Carolla in a burqa reminds me of Brian's mother from Life Of Brian. How come it's so easy to see Brian's Cock Carrousel in that one scene, but not that chick's Pussy Pendulum, huh? Monty Python? More like Misandry Python!

Nobody here has acknowledged the influence MRAs have had on feminist theory. They have somehow managed to redefine the virgin/whore dichotomy.

The new definition is "if I am a virgin, you are a whore."

Very much this. F+ isn't about pushing a political agenda, it's about laughing at the "self-important idiot on the internet" species regardless of what views said idiots profess.

The guy blaming women for "The Game" failing horribly rather reminded me of an old eastern european political joke: "The party leadership is fine, just the proletarian masses need replacement."

What does this episode have to do with Adam Carolla?

"When you’re picking a basketball team, you’ll take the brother over the guy with the yarmulke. Why? Because you’re playing the odds. When it comes to comedy, of course there’s Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin — super-funny chicks. But if you’re playing the odds? No. If Joy Behar or Sherri Shepherd was a dude, they’d be off TV. They’re not funny enough for dudes. What if Roseanne Barr was a dude? Think we’d know who she was? Honestly."

True, Carolla has said many bonehead things, but I still don't get the title.

Listened to this twice, it was that hillarious.
Hard to sat what was best, cock carousel, chair oppression, Portaxx's "what's a toilet" running joke or the long, melodramatic whine by a dude whose sole personal property is apparently a fucking urinal.
