IRREGULAR #3: Asexuals

Irregular

Asexuals

Released September 24th, 2012

Now it's time for the asexuals to get their say! We sat down with three webcomic artists who have no shame in telling you that they have not had sex in their lives. Might they do so in the future? That was discussed in a great conversation that went from racists who want promiscuous children to things to do in Las Vegas when you're asexual to the correct title of a Pixar parody porn title, and all logical points in between.

Keetah's webcomic: Villian | Icarus' webcomic: Inhuman | Chaz Gelf's webcomic: Intergalactic Truckstop

Music: L'Aguardiente by Camper Van Beethoven

Just posting here to ask, is there a reason that only the first episode of Irregular is up on iTunes?

then i saw One Eyed Monster and was like welp, the world already has this perfect gem in it. i can shelve my rediculous idea for good and tip my hat to ron jeremey.

I didn't want to get sidetracked in the recording (again), but there is also Killer Condom, a German film from 1996 that Troma distributed in the states. It's somewhat similar to your concept, except it turns out that the condoms themselves are haunted. Or monsters or something. Truth be told, I don't remember a great deal, but I know the condoms ate people.

omg. my dreams are realities.

Please let me direct your screenplay for "Condom Killer"

If this takes away from effort that would be otherwise spent making redecorape porno, I am staging a fucking boycott.

I can't decide what would make this funnier: "Love, Martin Scorsese", "Hugs and kisses, Ang Lee", or "Sincerely, George Lucas".

if only one person is aware there's a compromise it's not really one.

Yeah, this is what really sticks for me--I don't see much of an attitude among the vocal attention-grabbing aces that a relationship is a partnership and something that can only be enhanced by honest communication. It's like a relationship is a clash of two sexual orientations.

(All this said, I forget if your porno was the Condom Killer or the barbarians with one-liners, but I'd watch the shit out of either.)

condom killer. i swear that about junior year of college i had a half formed (and not at all serious) script for it.

then i saw One Eyed Monster and was like welp, the world already has this perfect gem in it. i can shelve my rediculous idea for good and tip my hat to ron jeremey.

I think Chaz briefly mentioned this in the episode, but I'm curious to know if there are asexual communities out there that aren't creepy/ make constant references to cake. One of the previous comments mentioned the idea of an asexual dating someone with a fetish and I'd like to know how common an occurance it would be.
I would wager that if you're not a creepy, attention-starv ed kid looking to prove how unique you are by not knowing what sperm is you probably don't need a cohesive online community where you can swap sperm anti-knowledge tales.

So fun fact: I actually dated someone who was asexual (Like, actual asexual like the folks in this episode, not Tumblr attention-seeker asexual like the ones from the other episode)

That sounds like the most unappealing, guilt-laden carnal act imaginable. Like going out for Chinese when your partner doesn't like it multiplied by the grim infinity of rubbing your ugly parts on someone who's consenting out of social obligation.

Gaaaaah.

So fun fact: I actually dated someone who was asexual (Like, actual asexual like the folks in this episode, not Tumblr attention-seeke r asexual like the ones from the other episode) and that's actually the big reason the relationship ended: I wanted the relationship to be sexual at some point and she didn't and I knew I'd feel guilty getting her to do something she wasn't comfortable with while also knowing I wouldn't be fulfilled in the relationship without the sexual component.

Shit like this is tricky...

Basically, would it feel like a compromise to you? Should either party see it that way, in your opinion?

both parties need to be involved in the knowledge that there's a compromise, obviously. dialogue does have to occur about boundries and stuff. if only one person is aware there's a compromise it's not really one.

i guess it'd be similar to dating someone who REALLY was into bedroom roleplay. maybe you're not, but ocassionally you're probably going to pretend to be the sexy burglar caught by the sexy police officer just like they'll ocassionally have vanilla sex.

or a vegan dating an omnivore. the omnivore will ocassionally deal with tofu dogs for dinner,a nd the vegan will deal with the omnivore ordering a burger when they eat out. if you actually love eachother it doesn't become a Big Deal - just part of the person you love.

I've heard people compare it to the idea of a "wifely duty" (in that it's a very old-fashioned and negative attitude) and I've also had an ace buddy who was very conscientious about her romantic partners being satisfied despite not needing/wanting reciprocation herself.

i mean the only point at which someone would be transgressing on asexual "rights" would be if they were trying to guilt someone into sex against their will.

Icarus, I've been meaning to ask--what's your take on the idea of sex as a "compromise" in a relationship? I've heard people compare it to the idea of a "wifely duty" (in that it's a very old-fashioned and negative attitude) and I've also had an ace buddy who was very conscientious about her romantic partners being satisfied despite not needing/wanting reciprocation herself.

I don't personally own a Tumblr but I think the whole thing I've learnt behind not only the Asexual episode and this Irregular episode is the fact that whilst Asexuality is important and not as well known in the mainstream media...it doesn't define who people are.

i personally don't even think it's all that important. i mean the only point at which someone would be transgressing on asexual "rights" would be if they were trying to guilt someone into sex against their will. and like i said before, at that point it's uh. illegal. and rape. and being an asexual has nothing to do with it when that's the situation you're in.

i do love watchful entity though. dear watchful entity, keep on keeping on.

You have to love the fact that #btw i can tell how a podcast is going to go by the first minute" is a tag.

Actually, that probably wasn't in the original post. That's just a thing that watchful-entity does when he reblogs people. He keeps the snark out of the post and in the tags, you see.

There are some REALLY EXCELLENT tags on there if you dig. Personal favorite is #alas; that would involve leaving my computer and going outside and that is sadly impossible

In regards to that link that Portaxx posted, I can only sit here and think "Wow, you took that the wrong way".

Seriously, he only listened to the first minute of the podcast and by my reasoning: that's half of Lemon's intro. You have to love the fact that #btw i can tell how a podcast is going to go by the first minute" is a tag.

I could be wrong in this conclusion though.

Unrelated to the episode, I didn't know you guys had another, better website.

www.fplusnever.com/index.php

The description is amazingly fitting too.
Quote:
The universe of f+ is an infinite realm of majik. An ever evolving, living, breathing plane of existence, blessed with all the powers of gods, encumbered by all the flaws of man. this realm is an oasis, a nightmare, a metaphor, and it all lives in pure chaos and perfect harmony.
