Episode 76: Today's Progress Was Yesterday's Form Field

READERS: Kumquatxop, Portaxx, John, Boots Raingear, STOG, and Lemon.
SPECIAL GUEST: Adam Bozarth

Edited by Boots Raingear

In the run up to the 2008 American election, Barack Obama told the world that "We are the change we seek." And now, as we reflect on our discontent with the status quo of tax policies, drone strikes, prisoners held indefinitely, and general apathy, we may realize that maybe we weren't looking for us at all. Real change is gonna come from the internet, in the form of asinine and pointless online petitions. We're looking at Change.org and PetitionOnline.com, two sites where your voice can be heard, but it will still be marble-mouthed and pubescent. This week, who wants to get high? Go Islanders!

That high-fallutin' concept of "today".
Quoting Matt Reimer on Change.org:
Brian held the Griffen family together !
You've killed "today's Lassey"! How do you sleep at night ?!

Stewie is no longer the poster child for gay rights he once was.
Quoting Tiffany Wilson on Change.org:
My sole reason for watching the series. Now Stewie is just a gay stereotype with a character stifling replacement dog.

FUCK FOxQuoting Jam Sad on Change.org:
I thought it was a joke...I was waiting by the last minute of the show to see Brian come back like a joke or something. FUCK FOx

Quoting Bring Brian Griffin Back To Familty Guy:

R.I.P Brian Griffin from Family Guy

Brian Griffin was an important part of our viewing experince. He added a witty and sophisticated element to the show. Family Guy and Fox Broadcasting will lose viewers if Brian Griffin is not brought back to the show. Follow us here for updates. facebook.com/.../....

The writers of family guy didn't just kill off one of their creations, they killed off the dog who has lived in our homes for the last 15 years. They killed the dog we all have come to love. They killed America's dog!

If I signed online petitions, I would sign that one. Because asexuality is kind of a real thing that actually exists, and no one who has real, not-made-up differences from others should be discriminated for them.

If Fox made fun of gray A's, on the other hand, I would become the most loyal of viewers.

change.org/.../... MORE CROSSOVER TIME ^_^

One might make a good point here about how, if you're going to pick on every inaccurate/stup id thing said in Fox News you'd still be at it come Christmas. Of course, when people are upset the futility of complaining (especially complaining on change.org) never occurs to them. Fox in general should be viewed in the similar light as ED, occasionally amusing, but mostly just full of misinformation and pointless drama.

Baroom (Volume) means "A lot" rather than a quantity

This post is a joke, right? Someone please tell me that it is.

It's not. They seriously use a Katakana imported word taken from "Volume". You can ask "How many cars are there in that parking lot?" and the answer can just be "Man, there are a volume."

Wait... are you asking if it's a joke because I'm being pathetic, sad and fucking pedantic? Because in that case, yeah, I guess I am kind of a joke.

BTW, "anime" is Japanese for animations. The term they're looking for is "shows produced in Japan that just happen to be animated." Yes, I know that's more or less the only term to refer to them as that anyone uses but the petition people seem to not get that.

Also, is there a single anime that doesn't have a love story in it?

Anime is actually one of many words re-purposed when the Japanese made it there own.

Much in the same way that Saabisu (service) means "free" rather than "service" and Baroom (Volume) means "A lot" rather than a quantity, Anime doesn't mean what it meant from its original language. They use it to describe animation or "animated show" interchangeably , much the same way we use the term "Cartoon."

No romance at all? Haibane Renmei, Princess Mononoke, Death Note, Paranoia Agent, Madoka Magica, and probably Fate/Zero if it doesn't completely derail in the last couple episodes.

Still, point taken. Crappy romance subplots are the death of any story, but in anime they're especially overused and especially crappy.

Oh dear, it appears that the LHC is a favorite among people making stupid online petitions. I found another one. Much the same stuff really, but it did include this gem:

Quote:
Further, in the event that the sum total of human knowledge painstakingly amassed over course of history is wrong and the scientific illiterates are correct and this experiment does result in "opening a gate to hell", "blowing up the planet", "creating a stargate to another dimension", or "granting the antichrist newfound powers" etc etc etc then this deliberate link to the destruction of a planet will allow the scientists to claim they knew this would happen and they meant to kill us all the entire time. The ability to still proclaim the experiment a success regardless of the outcome will prove helpful when procuring the necessary funds for the next mega-experiment.
